FAQ

What is the relationship between CapGroup and the ASSU?

Capital Group serves as the financial arm of the Associated Students of Stanford University. While not a bank in and of itself, CapGroup manages the financial transactions of all Volunteer Student Organizations (VSOs) on campus and makes sure that there is proper documentation for all expenditures. The ASSU Appropriations Committee is in charge of allocating funds as appropriate to each VSO and CapGroup acts upon those allocations via our GrantEd system.

How and where can I update my VSOs leadership to make sure our group leaders have access to GrantEd?

Please make all leadership updates known to the Office of Student Engagement in Old Union 206. They will have you update your group’s CardinalSync Portal information, which is then sent to our ASSU accounting team to update GrantEd access. To finalize GrantEd access, please have your leadership team take the appropriate financial STARS trainings listed on the ASSU website at assu.stanford.edu/finances/granted/granted-trainings.

Where can I find a list of major deadlines for trainings, funding, and other announcements related to volunteer student organization finances?

All major deadlines are announced via the Financial Officers & Student Leaders portal on CardinalSync as well as the ASSU website at assu.stanford.edu.
